Sarah "Sally" Hit Fuller graduated from Lake Erie College in 1943 with a major in Sociology. A Lake Erie Collage scholarship recipient, she served as President of the Athletic Association during her senior year, and vice president during her junior year. At LEC, Sally played varsity basketball, battleboard tennis, tennis doubles, and served on the Tiber Board and Student Government.
After graduation, Sally pursued her interest in tennis. In 1958 she was named Florida State Champion in Senior Tennis. In 1968 she was runner-up in the National Clay "40" Doubles; in 1971 runner-up in both the National Hardcourt "45" Singles and the National Mixed Doubles Indoor "40"; and in 1974 finished in second place in the National Clay "50" Singles. In that same year she also won the championship at the National Clay "50" Doubles. Two years later she won the National Indoor "55" Singles. In 1976 she won the National Clay "55" Doubles, and in 1978 the National Indoor "55" Doubles. She is a member of the South Florida Tennis Hall of Fame. She served as President of the South Florida Women's Doubles League for two years.
In 1990, Sally established the M. Eleanor Wray Award in honor of her friend and classmate. This cash award is given annually to a student government board member for the purpose of attending seminars and conferences designed to assist students in becoming better leaders on the Lake Erie College campus.
Sally holds a private air pilot license and is a real estate broker. A world-traveler, Sally has worked for Eastern Airlines, the American Red Cross, and Pan American Airlines. She resides in Coral Gables, Florida. Her husband, Eldridge Fuller, an airline pilot whom she married in 1955, is deceased.
The Hall of Fame Committee recognizes all of these accomplishments by honoring Sarah Hit Fuller as an inductee in the Lake Erie College Athletic Hall of Fame on April 20, 1994.
