Lake Erie College Athletics Hall of Fame
Amber Garnet Sowers earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Lake Erie College in 1995.
Garnet played four years of basketball and one year of softball for the Lady Storm. Garnet was named "Lake Erie College Female Athlete of the Year" in 1994 for her many accomplishments on the court as well as the softball field. She was a four-year letterwinner in basketball, and was recognized as an NAIA All-District 22 basketball player for her achievements during the 1994 season.
She scored 1476 points during her four years at LEC, making her the career scoring leader. She also holds the career record for free throws made with 302. Among her other individual accomplishments, Amber is second in three-pointers made with 138, fourth in rebounds with 605, and second in steals with 196. She was also first in assists with a career total of 394.
During 1991, the only year in which she participated in softball, Amber was on the team that won the National Small College Athletic Association National Softball Championship. She played third base as well as second base for this national championship team.
After graduation, Amber went on to coach basketball at the middle school level for one season.
The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee recognizes all these accomplishments by Amber Garnet Sowers with induction into the Lake Erie College Athletic Hall of Fame on May 19, 2001.
