In 2014, a group of athletic staff members, alongside representatives from Lake Erie's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), developed the idea of an awards banquet to further celebrate the accomplishments of our student-athletes as an extension of Student-Athlete Appreciation Day. This nationwide initiative honors student-athletes for achieving excellence in the classroom and in competition while making meaningful contributions to their schools and communities. From that vision, the event became known as the TIBBYS, named after Tiberius, the beloved dog and guardian of Lake Erie College. The annual celebration recognizes "the best of the best" across Lake Erie Athletics, highlighting the dedication, success, and impact of its student-athletes, coaches, and programs.
