Lake Erie College Athletics Hall of Fame
M. Sue Dreitzler came to Lake Erie College in 1978 as Athletic Administrator and Assistant Professor of Physical education. In the former position, her responsibilities included the rejuvenation of the women's intercollegiate athletic program and supervision of the program for the Jane White Lincoln Center for Physical Education and Recreation which opened in 1978.
For three years, Sue also coached the Women's Volleyball Team and, as a member of the Physical Education Faculty, also taught academic courses in Athletic Training, Psychology of Coaching, and Analysis of Team Sports, along with activity courses in Conditioning and Jogging.
In 1983, Sue was named Dean of Students, a position she held for five years. She was also the Affirmative Action Officer for the College. Sue then accepted the position of Director of Development at Lake Erie College and, in 1991, she received the title of Vice-President for Institutional Advancement.
Before coming to Lake Erie College, Sue received her undergraduate degree in physical education from Bowling Green State University and her Master of Arts Degree in Administration and curriculum from Kent State University. Her first teaching position was at Old Trail School in Bath, Ohio, as Chairperson of the Physical Education and Athletics Department. Prior to Lake Erie College, She served MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illl., as Coordinator of Women's Sports.
She has maintained her interest in physical activity and recreation by still participating in tennis, skiing, fishing, and other sports by supporting the Intercollegiate Athletic Program at Lake Erie College.
The Lake Erie College Hall of Fame Committee recognizes all of the efforts of M. Sue Dreitzler to the college's athletic program and department with her induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame on April 23, 1997.
