Goodwin was a dominant defensive presence on the national stage throughout his four-year career in the green and white.
A three-time All-American, he was named the NCAA Division II National Defensive Player of the Year and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2015. He also earned three First Team All-ECAC selections and was recognized as a Scholar All-American.
As a defenseman, Goodwin set program records with 123 career caused turnovers (1.98 per game) and 376 ground balls (6.1 per game). His single-season ground ball totals still rank 3rd, 4th, and 5th in program history, an especially notable feat considering the top two spots belong to draw control specialists.
After graduation, he became just the second player in program history to be drafted professionally, going in the third round of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) Draft to the Saskatchewan Rush.
In 2023, Goodwin was inducted into the Lake Erie College Hall of Fame as a member of the historic 2015 men's lacrosse team. At the time of his induction, he joined teammate Reagan Harding as only the second individual player in program history to earn Hall of Fame honors.
The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee recognizes all these accomplishments by Justin Goodwin with induction into the Lake Erie College Athletics Hall of Fame on September 13, 2025.
