Lake Erie College Athletics Hall of Fame
Gabe Kynard was a transformative figure in the history of Lake Erie basketball.
Over a standout four-year career, Kynard averaged 16.1 points per game while shooting 45.2% from the field and collecting 535 rebounds (4.6 per game). His senior season was particularly dominant, as he posted 589 points (20.3 ppg), 159 rebounds (5.5 rpg), 90 assists (3.1 apg), and 46 steals (1.6 spg). His efforts earned him G-MAC Player of the Year honors, along with All-American, All-Region, and All-District recognition.
At the time of his induction, Kynard's 1,873 career points stood as the all-time scoring record for Lake Erie basketball, across both the men's and women's programs. He was named First Team All-G-MAC twice and received an Honorable Mention once, adding to a decorated list of honors that includes: All-American, 2x All-Region, All-District, and G-MAC Player of the Year.
Equally impressive in the classroom, Kynard exemplified the true meaning of student-athlete. He was named G-MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned Academic All-Region, Academic All-District, Academic All-GLIAC, and three Academic All-G-MAC honors.
The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee recognizes all these accomplishments by Gabe Kynard with induction into the Lake Erie College Athletics Hall of Fame on September 13, 2025.
