2011: Played in 10 games on the defensive line during his junior season... recorded eight total tackles, including five solo stops, and had two sacks... had three games with two tackles and recorded quarterback sacks against Gannon on 9/1/11 and Ferris State on 10/1/11... also made 3.5 tackles for loss and recovered a fumble at Wayne State on 10/8/11.

2010: Played in seven games as a reserve on the defensive line during his first season with the program... made six total tackles on the season, with three of those being solo stops... had three tackles in a game three times.

PRIOR TO LAKE ERIE: Was a member of the team at Eastern Michigan for two years, earning a redshirt year as a freshman… was named scout team player of the year… was a three-year letterwinner in football and four-time letterman in track at St. Edward High School… served as a football team captain and was selected to play in the Greater Cleveland Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game.

PERSONAL: Born June 7, 1989… majoring in sports management… parents are Dennis and Bridget Newman.
