Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team welcomed the Colorado State Pueblo Thunderwolves for another non-conference game. The Thunderwolves took an early lead in the first half, and despite a strong comeback from the Storm, Lake Erie could not tie things up. The final score was a 17-9 loss, bringing the Storm's record to 3-4.
Lake Erie struggled to connect in the first half, with the Thunderwolves scoring 12 goals which were unanswered by the Storm.
Going into the third, the Storm fought hard to turn the game around, with an initial goal from Madelyn Goodrich to put Lake Erie on the board. Erin Snyder kept the momentum going with another goal, followed by Cynthia Saxby to outscore CSU-Pueblo 3-1 in the third.
The same energy from the Storm carried into the fourth, with three goals from Brooke McNeal, two from one from Shannon Smith, one from Reese Friesen, and another from Goodrich. Despite the team's phenomenal shot at a comeback, the Thunderwolves scored four of their own goals to keep there lead, with the clock running down at a score of 17-9.
McNeal and Goodrich continue to play outstanding offense for the Storm, leading the day in goals. Mea Lally picked up five ground balls for the Storm, and both Saxby and Snyder recorded an assist. Avery Artino returned to the net for the Storm, tallying four saves. Bethany Kirkwood took over for Artino in the second half, putting two more saves towards her career total.
The Storm will continue their string of home games on Wednesday, March 13th as they host the Edinboro Fighting Scots at 4:00 PM following the Lake Erie men's lacrosse game at 1:00 PM.
