Box Score BUCKHANNON, West Virginia — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team continued their road games to start off the season at West Virginia Wesleyan. The team took down the Bobcats to secure their first win of the season. This starting win puts the Storm's record at 1-1.
The Storm took an early 2-0 lead after Madelyn Goodrich scored two unassisted goals. While the Bobcats put up a fight, the Storm would continue their reign with goals from Shannon Smith, Brooke McNeal, Cynthia Saxby, Erin Snyder, and Emma Rhoades.
Goodrich led the Storm with four goals, followed by McNeal and Snyder with three each. Snyder also had three assists for the day. McNeal picked up nine ground balls.
Avery Artino was in the goal for the Storm, recording two saves.
Shannon Smith set a single-game school record in the game with seven caused turnovers, surpassing Caitlin Malay's previous record of six in 2011.
The Storm will host the Davenport Panthers for their home opener on Tuesday, February 27th at 5:00 PM.
