PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie College Women's Basketball team was recently chosen to finish t-13th in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, tied with Ohio Dominican at 44 points.
Head Coach Todd Perdas enters his second year as the head coach. The Storm welcome six freshmen and four transfers to the team, with graduate student Alexis Lehmkuhl, junior Aislyn Hurst, and junior Anna Ibos as the three returners. The new lineup looks to help improve the team on their record of 10-16 from last year, which was already improved from a 2-26 record from the year prior.Â
Ashland (183) was selected as the favorite to win the G-MAC with 13Â first-place votes, securing their spot over Kentucky Wesleyan (161) who received zero first-place votes, and Trevecca Nazarene (152)Â who received 1 first-place vote. Following the top three teams in the poll were Northwood (136), Malone (125), the G-MAC's newest addition Thomas More (125), Ursuline (111), Hillsdale (102), Walsh (95), Cedarville (78), Findlay (64), Tiffin (59), and Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican tied at 44 points.Â
The Storm look to make some noise in the G-MAC and they will kick off their season on Wednesday, November 15th on the road against Mercyhurst. Their home opener will take place on Saturday, December 9th against Trevecca Nazarene for their first conference match.Â
