CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team concluded their four-straight road games with a visit to the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets. A competitive first-half by the Storm was not enough to keep up with the Yellow Jackets in their second meeting of the season, as the game finished with a 78-58 loss.
Game Recap
Lake Erie got the best of Cedarville during their last meetup and they looked to earn the season sweep tonight and pickup another G-MAC victory in the process. The game began much how their last meeting ended: with tough back-and-forth play. The lead would change five times in the quarter alone and tie twice. By the end, the Storm would hold a 13-12 advantage while shooting 35.7% from the field.
The Lake Erie offense showed signs of improvement in the second but so did the Yellow Jackets'. Despite a 16-point quarter, the Storm surrendered 22 and took a 34-29 deficit into the locker room.
In the second half, the Cedarville offense remained consistent and outscored the Storm 44-29, finishing the game with a final score of 78-58.
Grace Lyon and
Megan Mares each had a team-high 11 points while Lyon grabbed a team-high seven rebounds as well. As a team, the Storm shot 37.1% from the field and struggled from deep with a 17.4% mark.
Looking Ahead
Lake Erie will be back in action to conclude their season on Saturday, February 28th at home for senior day. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
