FINDLAY, Ohio - As the spring sports season enters its final weeks, the Lake Erie women's lacrosse team had one final contest in front of them as they headed over to Findlay, Ohio for a Sunday afternoon game with the Oilers. It was another tough day for the Storm offensively, and Findlay would take the contest by a score of 21-3.

After Findlay got the scoring underway early in the first, Lake Erie made their first mark on the scoreboard on an unassisted Cynthia Saxby goal midway through the period. It would be the Oilers, however, who would control the game as it was 10-1 entering the second period. In the second, Findlay would push their advantage to 16-1 going into the intermission. 

After the break, the third period played out much like the second as the Oilers would score three more to make it 19-1. Lake Erie would finally get some solid scoring opportunities in the fourth as Erin Snyder would drop one in on a free position shot early in the quarter. Shannon Smith would add another goal in the period, but it would not be enough to overcome the Oilers. Findlay would go home with a 21-3 win. 

Statistically, it was not all doom and gloom for the Storm despite the loss. Cynthia Saxby, Shannon Smith, and Erin Snyder all would score for the Storm, and Smith would make a big impact defensively as well with 3 caused turnovers. Abbot Brandt would also add 9 saves to the Storm's efforts from the goalkeeper position. 

Despite a tough season after not playing in nearly 2 years due to COVID-19, head coach Meaghan Smith's squad made some big improvements as the year went on, and they will be looking to continue those improvements for the 2023 spring campaign.
