Box Score PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - Despite the intermittent rain showers that plagued most of Northeast Ohio, the Lake Erie women's lacrosse team headed just a few minutes up the road to take on the Ursuline Arrows. The Storm played one of their best games of the season and were able to lock in their first conference win by a score of 14-10.
In the first quarter, it was the Arrows who took control of the game early. Undaunted, the Storm answered right back and both teams traded goals late in the period. Led by two Cassidy Bourne goals in the period, Lake Erie battled back to even the score at 4-4 at the end of the first.
In the second quarter, both teams continued to trade goals as no one could truly take control of the game. Cynthia Saxby, Hailey Bryan, and Shannon Smith would all score for the Storm, but the Arrows held an 8-7 lead heading into intermission.
After the break, Lake Erie pushed their advantage and took control of the game in the third. Cynthia Saxby could continue her strong day offensively with 3 of her 5 goals in the period, and Allie Smith would add two more goals as well. The Storm's offensive surge pushed into the fourth quarter as well with Shannon Smith adding a final goal for the Storm, and Lake Erie would come away with a dramatic 14-10 win over the Arrows. This was the second Storm win of the women's lacrosse season, and their first in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
As Lake Erie will look to make a streak of this newfound success, they will have a great opportunity to do just that on April 16th when the Walsh Cavaliers come to town for a 4 pm contest at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
