Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Fresh off of their first conference win of the season, the Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team had a tough task in front of them as they faced off with the Walsh Cavaliers at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. The Storm struggled with the Cavalier's offensive output all day, and would fall by a score of 26-4.
After a scoreless first quarter put the Storm in a tough spot right off the bat, Lake Erie found their scoring chances to be few and far between as the game went on. They were finally able to convert on one of those chances as Allie Smith converted on a free position shot late in the 2nd quarter. Walsh would carry a 15-1 going into the half.
After the intermission, it was more of the same for the Storm offensively as they did not score in the 3rd quarter. The final period did see a small Storm rally though. Cynthia Saxby started it off with an unassisted goal early in the period, and Shannon Smith would score again shortly thereafter. The final goal of the contest would be from Erin Snyder in the waning seconds of the game, and Walsh would pull away with a 26-4 victory.
Statistically, there still were some bright spots for the Storm. Goalkeeper Abbot Brandt logged 7 saves in the contest, and Cassidy Bourne made a strong impact in the game with 6 draw controls.
Despite the loss, the Lake Erie women's lacrosse season is far from over. In thier next contest, they will face off with the Ursuline Arrows for the second time this season, and celebrate Senior Day festivities on Sunday, April 24th at 1 pm at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
