Lake Erie falls on the road to Charleston

Box Score

With the women's lacrosse season finally underway after two early-season postponements, the Lake Erie Storm women's lacrosse team traveled down to West Virginia to faceoff with the Charleston Golden Eagles. Unfortunately, the Storm had a tough day offensively and fell by a score of 15 to 1.

The game got off to a quick start with the Golden Eagles putting in 3 goals in the first quarter, and they would add 7 more in the second to bring the score to 10-0 entering the halftime break.

In the third, the Golden Eagles maintained their control of the game by adding 4 more goals. The fourth quarter would bring the sole goal for the Storm from Emma Rhoades. She was unassisted in the play. Charleston would add one more goal, and the game would end at 15-1 favoring the Golden Eagles.

Statistically, there were some bright spots for the Storm, however. Cassidy Bourne would stop 16 saves between the pipes. Amanda Tressler would also have a strong day defensively as she forced 2 turnovers. Emma Rhoades added the lone scoring play from the Storm.

Despite this rough outing, the Storm women's lacrosse program will get back into action as they continue a string of road contests with a Wednesday, March 16th when they face the Edinboro Fighting Scots at 5 pm.
