Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - With the early season northeast Ohio weather being less than cooperative this season, the Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team took the field in wet and windy conditions at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium for a conference clash against the Tiffin Dragons. Despite the weather, the Storm would play well, but they would come up short by a score of 18-7.
The first quarter saw the Dragons take the lead offensively. However, the Storm would answer right back with a Cynthia Saxby goal midway through the period. Unfortunately, the Dragon offense was firing on all cylinders, and they would maintain an 8-1 going into the second quarter.
In the second, it would be more of the same. Tiffin took control early, but the Storm would answer right back with a goal from Cassidy Bourne with 3 minutes left in the half and a Hailey Bryan with just 2 second left. The Dragons held a 11-3 going into the intermission.
After halftime, the Dragons again took an early advantage, but the Storm would respond again with a Cynthia Saxby goal towards the end of the period.
That Saxby goal would spark a run for the Storm as the fourth quarter was their most productive of the night. Emma Rhoades put together an impressive fourth quarter hatrick to bring the Storm up to 7 goals. Despite the run, Tiffin would come away with a 18-7 win in conference play.
On the stats sheet, the clear leader for the Storm was Emma Rhoades with 3 goals on 4 shots on goal. She would also log a caused turnover in the game. Behind her was Cynthia Saxby with 2 goals on 2 shots on goal. In goal, Abbot Brandt would also log 5 saves in the game.
The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team will remain at home for their next contest as they compete in their third consecutive conference matchup at home when the Findlay Oilers come to town on Sunday, March 27th for a 12 pm contest.
