PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Looking to bounce back from their home opener loss to Thomas More, the Lake Erie women's lacrosse team had a chance to make a big statement in conference play when the Ashland Eagles came to town to open up conference play for the Storm. Unfortunately, the game did not go the Storm's way, and they came up short by a score of 21-4. 

In the first quarter, Lake Erie would struggle with the Eagles offensive attack as they put in 10 goals in very quick succession. 

The Storm were able to respond, however. Cassidy Bourne would score an unassisted goal late in the second quarter. Ashland would carry a 15-1 lead as the game entered the halftime break. 

In the third, the Storm began to slow the Eagles down offensively, and they were able to create some much needed scoring opportunities. Erin Snyder would add the second goal for the Storm, and Emma Rhoades would follow up with another unassisted goal as the third quarter came to a close. Despite the scoring chances, the Eagles would maintain their 17-3 lead entering the final period.

In the fourth, Erin Snyder would strike again for the Storm for her second goal of the day. In the end, the Eagles would come away with the 2-4 win to open up conference play. 

Despite the loss, Erin Snyder led the way for Lake Erie with 2 goals with Cassidy Bourne and Emma Rhoades also scoring for the Storm. Abbot Brandt would also add 3 saves to the Storm's effort in goal. 

Lake Erie will get another chance to get back on track as they welcome the Tiffin Dragons for their second home conference contest in a row. The game will be played on Friday, March 25th at 7 pm.
