Box Score

(WHEELING, W.Va.) – Close games have been favorable to Lake Erie this season, but it was Wheeling Jesuit that was able the pull out the late-game heroics in an 11-9 decision Sunday afternoon. The Storm (2-3) rallied from a four-goal deficit to tie the game before the Cardinals (3-3) added a pair in the final minute to take the win.

After Anna Spin tied the game at 5-5 in the first minute of the second half, Wheeling Jesuit went on a 4-0 run over the next 10 minutes. It wasn't until the 17:32 mark that Anna Spin scored on a free position shot to pull the Storm within three and start the rally.

Chloe Nottingham followed with a goal four minutes later on an assist from Meagan Maxwell before Spin scored on another free position shot with 7:21 to go. That set up Riley Heffron to score the equalizer thanks to an assist from Jacquelynn Ho with 5:50 to go in the game.

The Green and White had a couple opportunities to take the lead late, but both attempts at goal were saved by the Cardinal keeper.

Spin finished with a game-high five goals. She added four ground balls, six draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Maxwell added two goals and an assist. Heffron finished with a goal and an assist.
