Box Score

MARTINS FERRY, OHIO. --  Six players scored multiple goals as the Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team routed host Wheeling Jesuit University, 22-2, Wednesday night (March 14) at Martins Ferry High School for the team's second straight win.

Junior Julia Kudla (Harylesville, Pa./Souderton) scored four of her game-high six goals in the first half as the Storm built a 14-1 lead at the break.  Lake Erie (3-1) led 2-1 two-and-one-half minutes into the game before closing the half on a 12-0 run.

The Storm added eight more goals in the second half, taking a 22-1 lead with just under 13 minutes to play.  Haley Rush scored for Wheeling Jesuit (1-6) with 2:48 to play to stop what had become a 20-0 Lake Erie scoring spurt.

In addition to Kudla, who also added an assist for her second straight seven-point game, juniors Allison Trombetti (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) and Meredith Howe (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt) and sophomore Annie Mendoza (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Catholic) each scored three times.  Defensively, Mendoza scooped up six ground balls, one fewer than the Cardinals did as a team.

Reigning East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week Hana Abukwiek (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) and sophomore Michaela Schock (Dover, Delaware/Casear Rodney) scored two goals apiece.  It was the first multiple goal game of Schock's career.

In net, sophomore Emily Rock (Hamilton, Ohio/Lakota West) made four saves to pick up her third win of the season.

The Storm outshot Wheeling Jesuit 35-8 and controlled 19 of 25 draws. Lake Erie was also a perfect nine-of-nine on clear attempts in the game.

Having scored 42 goals in their last two games, the Storm will go for a third straight win Friday night, March 16, on the road at Gannon University.
