Storm Can't Tame Lions Despite Howe's Two Goals

PERRY, Ohio – Dowling College used a huge first-half blitz roll past the Lake Erie Storm in an East Coast Conference women's lacrosse match at Perry High School's Alumni Stadium, 16-3, on Saturday (April 24) afternoon. 

The Storm (5-6, 1-4 ECC) fell behind 3-0 before Meredith Howe (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewilt) scored her first of her two goals in the game while in a man-down situation.
 
The Golden Lions (9-5, 3-1 ECC), ranked 10th in the country, went on to a 10-1 lead at halftime, dominating in every facet of the game, including a 24-2 advantage in shots.
 
Howe scored again with 25 minutes left and Brittany Rabuano (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) added the final tally of the game with just under four minutes to play to cap the Storm's scoring.
 
The Lions held won the battle in ground balls (22-9) and draw controls (13-8).
 
Storm goalkeeper Brittanie Johnson (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) stopped 19 shots in the game.
 
The conference's second-leading scorer, Cassandra Cronin, scored four times to pace the Lions. She also added one assist for a game-high five points. Sam Messineo added two goals and tied for a game-high with two assists.
 
Lake Erie will have a week off and will return to the pitch next Saturday (May 1), when the Storm hosts Indiana Tech at 3 p.m. at Alumni Stadium in the home finale.
