Lauren Macer has resigned as the head women's basketball coach at Lake Erie College to take on an elevated role as the lead assistant coach at Cleveland State University.
"I want to sincerely thank Coach Dunn for the opportunity to join the staff at Cleveland State University and for the intentionality and vision he shared throughout the process," said Macer. "Leaving Lake Erie College was not an easy decision because of how much I believed in what we were building there. I'm really proud of the progress we made and confident the program will continue building on that momentum under the leadership of President Jen Schuller and Director of Athletics Molly Hoffman. At the same time, this opportunity felt like the right step for me both professionally and personally. Cleveland State has built a strong program over the past several years, and I'm excited to get to work, contribute, and help continue moving the program forward."
Macer spent the last two seasons at the helm for the Storm, improving the program's previous win total each season.
Macer came to the Storm from Notre Dame College where she spent five total seasons across two stints. In between stints at NDC, Macer was the top assistant during transformative years for the Mastodons. In her first season, the Mastodons made a jump in nearly all statistical categories, including points per game (53.7-60.1), free throw percentage (71.4-81.9), assists per game (9.5-12.7) and 3-point percentage (25.0-32.5). The Mastodons' 81.9 percent free throw clip was the second-best in the country in 2021-22 and was the best in program history. She helped the Mastodons to their most wins since 2014-15 and most league wins since 2013-14. She also helped to lead Ryin Ott and Shayla Sellers to All-League honors. The Mastodon's wrapped up their season by making an appearance in Horizon League Tournament Semifinals.
