Storm Football Announces 2024 Schedule

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The full 2024 Lake Erie football has been officially announced. The Storm will compete in six home contests and five road ones to complete their 11-game schedule.

The Storm, who will be led by first-year head coach David Price, are set to begin a new chapter and brand of Storm football. After two down seasons, Price and his new staff are eager to rejuvenate the program and make Storm football competitive in the Great Midwest again.

The season will start on September 7th with a tough road match up against the Ferris State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are coming off another successful season in which they finished 8-3 and made their ninth-straight NCAA Division II Playoff appearance. The match up will be the first one between the two programs since 2016 when both were a part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

"What a tremendous opportunity to test our culture early by facing one of the perennial best teams in the country week one, with Ferris State," said Price. "We will find out quickly where we stand among the best in Division II football!"

The first home game of 2024 will be the following week against the Post University Eagles. Post enters their fourth Division II season and come off a 1-9 record in 2023.

The Storm kick off G-MAC action on September 21st at 12 p.m. in Findlay, Ohio to face the Oilers before returning home for a match up against Northwood University for homecoming.

"The G-MAC represents one of the best conferences in the region and one that we are no stranger to," said Price. "The league schedule is where teams begin to separate themselves and we are beyond excited to see where we stack up! Rage On!"

Lake Erie will then play back-to-back road games against Walsh University and the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers. The match up with Walsh will be the annual battle for the Pride and Passion trophy. Last season, the Storm fell short against the Cavaliers 30-16 after regaining control of the trophy the year prior.

During the second-half of the season, the Storm will face Hillsdale College at home before traveling to compete against the 2023 G-MAC champions, Tiffin on the road. Price returns to Tiffin where he spent the previous five seasons on the Dragons staff.

Lake Erie will then conclude their season with three-straight home match ups against Ashland, Ohio Dominican, and Thomas More.
