PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie football team hosted the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers today for their final home contest of the season. The Storm took the lead first and never looked back, taking down the Panthers 27-9 on senior day. The win gives the Storm their second G-MAC win of the season and their first multi-conference win season since 2022.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Storm offense began to find its rhythm in the second, getting on the board with a 22-yard field goal by
Enrique Olmos after the defense forced a fumble and recovered it at the KWC 37.
With the Storm striking first, the Panthers got the ball back but their drive ended after a 52-yard pick-six by
DeAndre Goodson, giving Lake Erie a 10-0 lead.
As the clock wound down in the first half, the Storm began an offensive drive with 2:44 remaining. They marched down the field and scored on an impressive 23-yard passing touchdown from
Hunter Newell to
Devin Morgan with just 26 second remaining. With that score, the Storm would take a 17-0 lead into the locker room.
The Panthers showed a faint bit of life in the third quarter, scoring midway through the quarter and taking advantage of a Storm miscue, adding on two more points via safety and trimming the deficit to 17-9.
With their first drive of the fourth quarter, the Storm marched down the field and grabbed three more points on a successful 23-yard field goal by Olmos. The final nail in the coffin came late in the quarter when
Julian Means-Flewellen broke free and scored on a 72-yard rush, giving Lake Erie a 27-9 victory.
The Storm defense was incredible. They held the Panthers to just 30 yards on the ground and 132 in the air while totaling 12 tackles-for-loss, five sacks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble.
On offense, Means-Flewellen totaled 154 rushing yards on 20 carries and Newell went 10-of-22 for 108 yards in the air.
Looking Ahead
The Storm will conclude their season next week, Saturday, November 15th, on the road against the Ashland University Eagles. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
