COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Lake Erie football team traveled today to take on the Ohio Dominican Panthers for another Great Midwest matchup. The Storm hung in with the Panthers and made them work but the game would end in a 30-14 loss.
Game Recap
The Panthers struck early, going up 7-0 on a 22-yard rushing play and then 14-0 after returning a Storm interception back to the LEC 1 and scoring on the next play.
Ohio Dominican would then successfully convert a 21-yard field goal to take a 17-0 lead with about four minutes remaining.
Just before the quarter came to an end,
Brady Clark connected with
Keyshawn Johnson on a 41-yard play, putting the Storm on the board and trimming the Panther's lead to just 17-7.
The Storm defense locked in after that touchdown and held the Panthers scoreless for most of the second quarter. Before the end of the half, Ohio Dominican scored once more to take a 24-7 lead into the locker room.
The Panther's extended the lead on their first offensive series of the half, scoring on a 32-yard field goal.
After a fairly uneventful quarter, the Storm cut into the Ohio Dominican lead when
Travis Boston Jr. blocked the punt, and
Hakeem Quran recovered and returned it for a touchdown, putting the score at 27-14.
In the fourth, the Panthers scored one more touchdown and the game ended in a tough 30-14 loss for the Storm.
On defense, the Storm impressed with eight tackles-for-loss and two sacks.
Quinterrius Jemison led the unit with seven tackles, two tackles-for-loss, one sack, and one forced fumble.
Looking Ahead
The Storm will be back at home next Saturday, November, 8th to face the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
