Clouse Leads Storm at Findlay Open

FINDLAY, Ohio -- The Lake Erie wrestling program competed this weekend in the Findlay Open, hosted by the University of Findlay. Brylan Clouse would lead the way for the Storm with a 3rd place finish at 197.

As a team, Lake Erie went 32-21 during the open with three Storm athletes finishing within the top-5.

Clouse started his day with a sudden victory over Gannon's Anthony Glessner. He would then win his next matchup by technical fall before losing in the semifinals to Wyatt Miller of Grand Valley State. In his 3rd place match he won via tiebreaker over West Liberty's Mason Christian.

Christian Small, in his first event of the year, finished fourth at 149. Small would win his first three matches by fall, technical fall, and decision before dropping his semifinals matchup via medical forfeit. After this, he would be placed in the 3rd place match but would forfeit, giving him a 4th place finish on the day.

In his first match for Lake Erie since earning All-American status at NCAA Nationals in 2022, Corey Gamet returned to the mat at 141 and won both of his first two matchups by way of major decision. He would then drop his quarterfinals matchup to Ray Rioux of UIndy before defeating Gannon's Caleb Chaves by decision in round 4 of the consolidation round. An opponent forfeit in his next matchup would advance him to the 5th place matchup where he would win via tiebreaker over Ohio's Kaden Jett.

Other finishers for the Storm included Anthony Sagaris (125 - 4-2, 6th), Ryan Wehner (133 - 4-2, 6th), Brenden Hamilton (133 - 2-2), Carsen Richards (144 - 1-2), Austin Fietz (149 - 2-2), Thomas Potter (165 - 4-2), Josh Howey (165 - 1-2), Jordan Barnett (184 - 3-2), and Paul Scaramuzzino (197 - 1-2)

Lake Erie will be back in action on Saturday December 2nd at home when they host the Storm Quad Meet. They will face Mercyhurst, Gannon, and Fairmont State.
