Box Score 2 ERIE, Pennsylvania - After a strong home debut sweep of Clarion on Thursday, the Lake Erie softball program immediately headed up the road to face off with the Gannon Golden Knights for a Friday afternoon double header. Unfortunately, this series would not go as well, and the Storm would drop both contests. The game went as follows.
Gannon 3, Lake Erie 2
In the first contest of the afternoon, both teams traded runs throughout the game. Gannon took an initial lead in the second inning, but the Storm would respond in kind with a CJ Garcia single that brought Payton Brownlee home to tie the game. Gannon would then retake the lead in the 5th. Lake Erie would then even the score with a Jasmine Gonzales single to bring in Cheyenne Hamel. Unfortunately, a Gannon surge in the 6th inning would give them the contest. In the pitcher's circle, Carly Rowland would record 7 strikeouts in the loss.
Gannon 7, Lake Erie 0
In the second contest of the day, the Storm would really struggle to find a groove at the plate as they would not even record a hit until the 7th inning when Tymarie Hutchinson would attempt to mount a comeback with a single to center field. However, on the bright side, pitcher Grace Hammer would record 9 strikeouts.
After 4 contests in the past 2 days, there is no rest for the weary as the Storm softball program will get right back at it with their second home doubleheader of the season when the Mercyhurst Lakers come to town on Tuesday, March 22nd. The first contest will begin at Noon.
