PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Fresh off a dramatic win over Seton Hill the previous night, the Lake Erie College wrestling program got right back into action when they travel just up the road to compete in the John Carrol Open. Quite a few Storm wrestlers got an opportunity to gain some needed collegiate level experience and the Storm placed at 20th overall.
Out of the 10 wrestlers that appeared in the event for the Storm, the most successful was Jacob Johnson. He went 3-2 on the day and finished at 4th overall in his 125 weight class grouping. After dropping his first bout, Johnson was able to win 3 consecutive bouts including one by pinfall. Additionally, Ryan Wehner, Brady O'Connor, and Paul Scaramuzzino were also able to earn individual bouts wins during the event.
The Lake Erie wrestling program has concluded their regular season campaign, but competitions are far from finished from the Storm. Lake Erie will have wrestlers compete in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Super Regional Three hosted by West Liberty University in West Liberty, West Virginia. That competition will be held on Saturday, February 26th, and all wrestlers will be vying for bids to the NCAA Division II Wrestling National Championships to be held in Saint Louis, Missouri.
