The Lake Erie College Storm wrestling team wrapped up their weekend in Michigan at the Alma Open today (Jan. 18). Alma College hosted over 230 wrestlers representing 23 teams from NCAA Divisions I, II, III, NAIA and the NJCAA as well.
Connor Donahue placed third in the 141 weight class. Donahue earned three wins by decisions before falling in the semifinal. He bounced back in the consolation semifinal and won a 5-2 decision to reach the third-place match. Donahue earned a 6-5 decision win over Mitchel Christensen of Central Michigan. At 149, both John Siemasz and Jaycob Sharp competed. Siemasz placed fourth, pinning four opponents and winning two decisions on the day. Sharp placed sixth and earned a fall, tech fall, and two decisions on the day.
Additionally, Storm wrestling had four athletes competing unattached at the Alma Open. All four wrestlers placed top-six in their respective weight classes.

Lake Erie started the trip in dominant fashion with a 33-3 victory over Davenport University on Friday night. The Storm scored bonus points at four of weight with two major decisions, a technical fall, and a fall. Full results for the dual against Davenport can be found here.
Blake Glogouski, ranked 11th nationally, won the first of nine consecutive bouts for the Storm against Davenport with a decision at 133. Andrew Lieb followed up with a technical fall at the seven-minute mark at 141. Brandon Tenney secured a hard-fought decision at 149 before back-to-back wins from Storm freshmen at 157 and 165. Jacob Potok earned a major decision at 157 and James Penfold put 13 points on the board in a decision at 165. John Penfold continued the winning ways at 174 with a 5-0 decision. Freshmen Brylan Clouse earned the only fall of the dual at 184, plus his first dual victory in a Storm singlet. Chris Droege, ranked 13th nationally, earned a major decision at 197. Devin Uzelac ended Friday night's performance with a last-second takedown to avoid the sudden victory period.
The Storm heads to Findlay next weekend to compete in the G-MAC Duals as the reigning conference champion.
