PAINESVILLE, Ohio—Lake Erie College sophomore swimmer Meri Cizmar was announced as a national qualifier for the 2015 NCAA Division-II Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday morning (Feb. 26).
Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia/X. Gimmnazija Ivan Supek) becomes the first female swimmer to qualify for the NCAA Division-II Championships for the Storm. She will compete in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke on the campus of Indiana University of Purdue University of Indianapolis March 11th-14th.
Cizmar will be seeded 14th in the 200 backstroke and 16th in the 100 backstroke.
At the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships, Cizmar won the 200 backstroke with a tie of 2:00.62, setting a new Lake Erie mark. In the 100 backstroke, Cizmar placed third with a tie of 55.92, another Lake Erie record.
