ASHLAND, Ohio – The Lake Erie college men's and women's swimming team lost to Ashland today (January 9th). The men fell by a score of 104-68 and the women lost 99-41 at Ashland University.
The men were led by Ivan Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia / X. Gimnazija Ivan Supek) who won the 200 yard individual medley and the 200 yard backstroke, with times of 2:00.18 and 1:58.78 respectively.
Ilia Platonov (Russia) won the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:44.73. Platonov also took second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.54.
The women were led by Meri Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia / X. Gimnazija Ivan Supek) who won the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 2:11.45. Cizmar also took second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:17.40.
Lake Erie will be back in action when they host Wheeling Jesuit and Fairmont on Saturday (January 17th) at 12 P.M.
