DELAWARE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's swimming team finished second and the women's swimming team finished fourth today (November 23rd) at the Corbiere-Merion Invitational.
The men were led by senior Yan Milinkovskyi (Zaporozhye, Ukraine / Academical Laceum of Zaporizhia) who took first in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 free in times of 21.65, and 46.23 seconds respectively.
Senior Ivan Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia / X. Gimnazija Ivan Supek) won the 400 yard individual medley in a time of 4:04.49.
The relay team of Milinkovskyi, Cizmar, Ilia Platonov (Russia) and Kaleb Brown (Indiana) took first place in the 400 yard medley relay in a time of 3:30.15.
The men finished second of six teams at the two day event with a total of 537 points.
The women were led by freshman Vitoria Dos Sanots (Sorocaba, Brazil / Colegio Ideal Sorcaba) who took second in the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 25.25 seconds.
The relay team of Dos Santos, sophomore Meri Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia / X. Gimnazija Ivan Supek), junior Brittany Funk (Turlock, Calif. / John H. Pittman), and junior Joelyith Humpe (Rayland, Ohio / Wheeling Central Catholic) took first place in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:09.70.
The women finished fourth of six teams at the two day event with 377 points.
Lake Erie College will be back in action Friday (January 9th) when they travel to take on Ashland at 6 P.M.
