GENEVA, Ohio – The Lake Erie College swimming team was defeated today (October 25th) by Edinboro University. The men were defeated 130-66, and the women fell by a count of 98-61.
Vitoria Issaho Dos Santos (Brazil) led the Storm with two first place finishes. She was victorious in the 1000 freestyle (11:11.85) and the 500 freestyle (5:25.55).
Meri Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia/X. Gimnazija) had the other first place finishes for the Storm in the 200 individual medley (2:17.39). In addition, Cizmar also won the 100 backstroke (1:00.91).
Brittany Funk (Turlock, Calif./John H. Pittman) carded second place finishes in the 100 butterfly (1:07.61) and the 200 freestyle (2:10.20). Joelyith Humpe (Rayland, Ohio/Wheeling Central Catholic) placed third in the 50 free (26.53).
The women won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of (1:47.84).
The men were led by Illia Platonov (Russia) who won the 200 free in a time of (1:47.51). He also took second in the 100 free with a mark of (49.29).
Also winning for the Storm was Ivan Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia / X. Gimnazija Ivan Supek) in the 200 individual medaly in a time of (2:02.06). He also placed second in the 100 backstroke in a time of (53.87).
Also winning for the Storm was Yan Milinkovskyi (Zaporozhye, Ukraine / Academical Laceum of Zaporizhia) who was victorious in the 100 butterfly in a time of (53.97).
Lake Erie College will be back in action on Saturday (November 8
th) when they travel to take on Notre Dame College and Urbana.
