PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Cold shooting was too much for Lake Erie College (2-9, 1-4 GLIAC) to overcome in a 65-50 home loss to Ohio Dominican University (3-10, 2-6 GLIAC) Saturday (Jan. 8) at the Jerome T. Osborne Athletic & Wellness Center.  The Storm shot just 17-of-62 (27.4 %) from the field.

Junior forward Jen Caiola (South Russell, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) led the Storm with 19 points.  Caiola knocked down two three-pointers in the game to give her 139 for her career and solo possession of fourth place on the Lake Erie all-time list. The Panthers were paced by Summer Hale with 17 points and game-high tying 10 rebounds as four Ohio Dominican players reached double figures.  Also with 10 rebounds was Storm junior forward Stephanie Rogers (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) along with four blocks.

The first half was a battle of runs as Lake Erie got off to a quick start and led 7-4 at 17:27 after a Cahola jumper.  It was the last Storm points for almost four minutes as ODU went on a 8-0 run to take a 12-7 at 13:39.  Lake Erie quickly responded with seven straight points to regain the lead at 14-12 after makes on back-to-back possessions by freshman forward Jodie Jindra (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut).  The Storm pushed that lead to 18-14 before the Panthers went on a 13-2 run to take the biggest lead for either team in the period at 27-20 at 2:46.  Lake Erie stormed towards the half with a 10-0 spurt before a Ohio Dominican buzzer beating layup cut its deficit to one at 30-29 at the intermission. 

After a second half opening layup by Rogers, who came into the game averaging a team-high 14.9 ppg. and was held scoreless in the first half, Lake Erie went ice cold, scoring just six points in a 10:19 stretch.  During that period, the Panthers opened up a nine-point lead at 47-38.  Lake Erie would get the gap down to five on two separate occasions, the last at 55-50 after a Caiola three-pointer with 3:17 to play.  It was the last score for the Storm on the day as ODU tallied the game's final 10 points. 

Lake Erie opens a four-game road trip Thursday night, Jan. 13, against GLIAC South leader University of Findlay in the second half of a men's and women's doubleheader at 8 p.m.
