Wayne State University (5-13, 5-7 GLIAC) avenged a December loss to Lake Erie College (2-15, 1-10 GLIAC) with a 66-60 road win, today (Jan. 29) at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic and Wellness Center.

The Storm's top players did not disappoint as junior center Stephanie Rogers (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) tallied her fifth double-double of the season with game-highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds, nine of which came on the offensive end. Junior guard Jen Caiola (South Russell, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) and senior guard Brittany Zele (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) also reached double figures for the second straight game with 14 and 10 respectively. Phaebre Colbert paced three Warriors in double figures with 19 points.

A big shooting advantage was key for Wayne State as it shot 52.0% (26-of-50) from the field while the Lake Erie was at 35.7% (20-of-56).

Lake Erie got off to a hot start and led 10-4 at 14:19 in the first half after a pair for free throws from sophomore guard Sarah Wojciechowski (Randolph, Ohio/Waterloo).  Wayne State would proceed on an 18-4 run to grab its largest lead of the half at 22-14 with 6:53 after a Paige Sickmiller three-pointer.  Lake Erie scored seven straight points to close the gap and tied the game twice, the final time at 26-26 following a layup by freshman forward Chrissy Delaney (Delaware, Ohio/Lewis Center Olentangy).  Wayne State took a 32-29 advantage into the second half. 

WSU was clinging to a two-point lead early in the second half when the Warriors ripped off a 14-0 run to take a game-high 16-point advantage at 54-38 with 9:43 to play.  The Storm cut that lead in half with eight point straight of their own, but could not cut the gap any further until under three minutes to play when a pair of Rogers free throws made the score 62-56.  Wayne State came up empty on its next four possessions but Lake Erie could not capitalize until two more Rogers free throws made the score 62-58 at 1:15.  The Warriors went four-of-four in the final minute to help secure the victory. 

Lake Erie is in action next when it hosts Hillsdale College on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 8:00 p.m.
