Abdel Ruhman Yusuf Named Assistant Athletic Trainer

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Lake Erie College Athletics announced today that Abdel Ruhman Yusuf has joined the Sports Medicine staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Abdel to our sports medicine team!," said Sabrina McCraith, Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine and the Head Athletic Trainer. "From the first time he stepped on campus, he fit right in. Abdel brings experience across divisions that has given him a multitude of tools to use for injury management and prevention. I'm confident that he will build strong relationships with his teams, coaches, and community."

Abdel Ruhman comes to Lake Erie after spending two years at the University of Toledo, where he served as the athletic trainer for the Rockets track and field program as well as the men's and women's golf teams. During that time, he also assisted with preseason football and served as the football home team liaison.

"I'm excited to join Lake Erie College as an athletic trainer and be part of a program that truly values student-athlete care and development," said Yusuf. "I'm passionate about helping athletes perform at their best while making sure their health, safety, and recovery come first. I'm looking forward to connecting with our teams and being part of the continued success of Storm athletics."

Prior to Toledo, Abdel Ruhman worked at Mount Union from 2021 to 2023 as an assistant athletic trainer. In that role, he provided medical care and coverage for the football, wrestling, baseball, and tennis teams.

Abdel Ruhman earned a Master of Science in Athletic Training from Kent State University in 2021 and earned his bachelor's degree in Biology from Youngstown State University in 2019.
