PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- During March, athletic trainers across America are being recognized for their commitment to helping people prevent injuries and stay healthy and active. As healthcare professionals, they are highly educated and dedicated to the job at hand. Athletic trainers are found in high schools and colleges, corporations, professional sports, the military, performing arts, clinics, hospitals, and physician offices.
Here at Lake Erie, we are lucky enough to have five of the best athletic trainers in the country. Behind every one of our student-athletes success is an AT who goes above and beyond every day. Their commitment and hard work day in and day out does not go unrecognized, and every day, we are thankful for them.
This week we are highlighting Megan Etter, who is in her fourth year on the LEC sports medicine staff. Megan works primarily with the Storm men's soccer and baseball programs. Here is what our staff and student-athletes have to say about Megan:
"Megan does a lot for us athletes. She has developed close relationships with us and she has helped us out a lot both on and off the field. She makes sure to take time and care for each of her athletes. I'm very thankful to have Megan as a trainer."
- Rieghly Burke, Men's Soccer
"There isn't a time where Megan isn't willing to help me and the rest of her athletes get and stay game ready regardless of how much is asked of her. She does so much more than she even realizes for the baseball team and all of the countless hours that she spends in the training room will never go unnoticed. She has been one of my biggest supporters not only on the field but with my personal life as well for the past three years, and I am so grateful to have such a caring person be there for me whenever I need her. Without Megan I would be nowhere near the athlete that I am today and I am so appreciative of her and everything that she does for me on a daily basis." - Dominic Poltrone, Baseball
"Megan has been a vital part of our success over the past couple of years and a great extension of our staff. She goes above and beyond in treating our players, putting their needs first and making sure they get back on the field as quickly as possible. We have a large roster, so her ability to manage her time, be flexible, and help every player is impressive. Her personality and demeanor also make our team feel very comfortable around her and she is able to connect with them on a more personal level. As much as she treats the players for their injuries physically, I also think she does a great job in helping them mentally and emotionally cope with injuries. We are very fortunate to have Megan at Lake Erie."
- Head Coach Louie Rolko, Men's Soccer
