PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- During March, athletic trainers across America are being recognized for their commitment to helping people prevent injuries and stay healthy and active. As healthcare professionals, they are highly educated and dedicated to the job at hand. Athletic trainers are found in high schools and colleges, corporations, professional sports, the military, performing arts, clinics, hospitals, and physician offices.
Here at Lake Erie, we are lucky enough to have five of the best athletic trainers in the country. Behind every one of our student-athletes success is an AT who goes above and beyond every day. Their commitment and hard work day in and day out does not go unrecognized, and every day, we are thankful for them.
This week we are highlighting Kellie Korzunowski, who is in her third year on the LEC sports medicine staff. Kellie works primarily with the Storm volleyball, cross country, and women's basketball and softball programs. Here is what our staff and student-athletes have to say about Kellie:
"Kellie has been my athletic trainer for three of my four years here at Lake Erie. I am so appreciative of all she has done for my teammates and me. She truly goes above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of and supported. I wouldn't have been able to make it through the season without her. Thank you Kellie!!"
- Anna Ibos, Women's Basketball
"Where do I even start with our trainer Kellie. A trainer who I can confide in for not only my physical health but even more on my mental health. If I ever have an injury Kellie knows exactly how to get me back on that field. Kellie, thank you for not only being softball's athletic trainer, but thank you for being the person I can go to if I'm having a bad day, or just need someone to talk to. Softball loves you so much Kellie!" - Jasmine Gonzales, Softball
"I cannot thank Kellie enough for the incredible impact she continues to have on our student-athletes. Her dedication, expertise, and unwavering support go far beyond injury care—she is a mentor, a motivator, and a constant source of encouragement. Her passion for our student-athlete's well-being and success is evident in everything she does, and we are truly grateful for the countless hours she invests in their growth, both on and off the court. Her kindness, knowledge, and leadership make a lasting difference, and we are so fortunate to have her as part of our team. Thank you for everything! We LOVE you Auntie Kel!!!" -
