Box Score 2 PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie softball team hosted the Walsh Cavaliers today for a double header. The Storm dropped a close extra-inning effort in game one and were mercy ruled in game two as they closed out the double header with a pair of losses.
GAME 1 - 8 INNINGS
WALSH - 4
LAKE ERIE - 3
The Cavaliers took an early 1-0 lead to begin game one but in the bottom half of the inning
Emma Spahr sparked some life into the Storm lineup with a two-out triple to right center.
Lillian Campbell followed it up with a game-tying RBI single up the middle.
Lake Erie starting pitcher,
Carly Rowland held Walsh scoreless over the next two innings, not allowing a hit and getting some help from her defense on a nice double play in the second when right fielder
Megan Miller threw out Sydney McKeever as she tried tagging up from second and advancing to third.
In the bottom of the third, Miller got things started with a single to center field and advanced to second on a single from Spahr. Next at-bat,
Ava Scott reached on an error by the Cavaliers shortstop to load the bases.
CJ Garcia then drove home Spahr and Miller to give the Storm a 3-1 lead.
Walsh tied things up in the fifth inning, and with the Storm unable to score again by the end of the seventh, the game went into extra innings.Â
The Cavaliers took advantage of Storm miscues and notched a run in the top of the eighth and would finish with a 4-3 win in game one.

GAME 2 - 5 INNINGS

LAKE ERIE - 0
The Cavaliers continued where they left off in game one and shut the Storm down at the plate. Their bats only managed one hit which came in the second inning when
Peyton Powers doubled to right.
The Storm did managed to work four walks but nothing came together and they would fall 8-0 in five innings.
