Box Score 4 FLORENCE, Kentucky – The Lake Erie Storm baseball traveled to Kentucky as they completed a series against the Thomas More University Saints, on April 20 and 21. After winning the first two games of the series, Lake Erie would drop the next two, splitting the series with the Saints. The Storm move to 17-20 on the year and 9-13 in conference play.
GAME ONE
LAKE ERIE - 9

Lake Erie came into the first game of the series getting a solid start out of Jon Poppy, going 5.1 innings pitched, giving up only one earned run, while striking out four. This was backed by great offense as well scoring in each of the first six innings. The Storm found themselves up 8-1 going into the sixth inning. Mitchel Szymczak led the way going 4-5 with three singles and a double, to go with one RBI. Christ finished 2-4 with a double and a stolen base. Mark "Bino" Ross went 2-4 as well with three RBIs, one sacrifice fly, and two stolen bases.

GAME TWO

The Storm continued their winning ways into the second game. After going scoreless through six, being down by one, Justin Major homered to left center tying the game to take it to extra innings. Lake Erie poured it on in the eighth inning scoring three runs off of a Jacob Mote two RBI bomb. Robert Helt went 5.2 innings pitched allowing only one earned run while striking out four. Dallmayer sold the Storm win with 1.1 innings pitched, going scoreless while striking out one.

Caudill struggled early in the first game of the second doubleheader. He gave up seven earned runs in the first inning. Lake Erie made a valiant effort at the comeback attempt being down seven quick runs in the first. Jaxon Christ went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and one RBI. Mitchel Szymczak went 2-4 with three RBIs, a sacrifice fly, and two doubles. Lake Erie fell 8-10

Lake Erie was shut out in the final game of the series to split with the Saints. Poltrone went 4.1 innings pitched giving up seven earned runs while striking out four. Szymczak went 1-3 on the day in the loss.

Lake Erie is back in action at home for a double-header against the Mercyhurst University Lakers on Tuesday, April 23, with the games starting at 1 PM and 4 PM.
