INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- Lake Erie football kicker
Jaffer Murphy has been named the Great Midwest Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of October 14th. This is the second time this season that a Lake Erie football student-athlete has received this honor and the second of Murphy's career.
Murphy continued to add onto his impressive season this week during Lake Erie's win against Kentucky Wesleyan. He went 2-for-2 on field goals, one of which he knocked in from 60 yards deep. Not only is it the third time this season he has broken the school and G-MAC record, but he now has the 12th longest field goal in NCAA DII history. On the year, he is 10-for-11 on field goal attempts and a perfect 3-for-3 from 50-plus.
The Storm will be back in action this Saturday, October 19th at home to host the Hillsdale College Chargers. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
