PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie Storm women's basketball team has now won back-to-back games with a double-digit blowout win against Tiffin University, with a final score of 55-39. This win brings the Storm's record to 10-15 on the season, and 5-13 in conference play. The Storm's aggressive defense is what led to the great win over the Dragons. Lake Erie held the Dragons to under double digits in points in the second and third quarters, only allowing three total points in the second quarter.
It was an overall team effort on the offensive end for the Storm this afternoon. Sophomore guard Anna Ibos led the way for the Storm in scoring with 11 points, eight rebounds, one assists, and one steal all in 24 minutes off the bench. Senior forward Kayla Clark added nine points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 20 minutes off the bench. Senior guards Sydney Wyngarden and Angela Fink led the defensive strike for the storm, picking up three blocks and two steals each. Wyngarden would also finish with nine points, four assists, and two rebounds. Fink ended with seven points, six assists, and four rebounds in addition to her defensive play.
The stellar defensive play by the Storm resulted in the Dragons shooting 13-53 from the field ending at a low 24.5%. Lake Erie held Tiffin to just three 3-point makes of their 24 total attempts; ending with a 12.5 shooting percentage behind the arch. The Storm forced the Dragons into 16 turnovers, cashing in 13 points off of Tiffin's mistakes. Coach Todd Perdas led the Storm to their 10th overall win of the season.
The Storm play in their last regular season game at home on Saturday, February 25th for Senior Day. They will host the Walsh Cavaliers, with tip-off set at 1 PM with the Lake Erie men's team to follow.
