Storm Honor Seniors in Last Game of the Season

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie Storm women's basketball team was back in action at home for their last game of the season against the Walsh University Cavaliers. Lake Erie would play competitive through the end, but was unable to stop Walsh, losing 66-79. This brings the final record for the Storm to 10-16 for the year and 5-10 in conference play.

The Storm were led by seniors Abby Matalavage, Angela Fink, and Sydney Wyngarden in their last career games with Lake Erie. Matalavage led the Storm in scoring on the day dropping 22 points off of a 10-15 shooting stint. Matalavage also added two rebounds, one assist, and one block. Fink recorded a double-double for Lake Erie while matching her career high in assists all in a team high 37 minutes of play. Fink ended with 15 points off of 7-9 shooting, 12 assists, two rebounds, and one block. Wyngarden added nine points, four rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Sophomore guard Anna Ibos added 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal off of the bench. 

Lake Erie would end the day going 48.3% from the field and 33.3% from behind the arch and 75% from the stripe. In Coach Todd Perdas' first year he led the storm to double digit wins for the first time since the 2019-20 season. 

Abby Matalavage finishes her career for the Storm with the following statistics: 766 total points for a career average of 10.5 points per game. 222 total rebounds, 88 total assists, 72 total steals, 22 total blocks, and a .488 career shooting percentage. Matalavage would end her senior season third overall in the GMAC conference in points per game with 18.4 per contest. 

Angela Fink finishes her career for the Storm with the following statistics: 402 total points with a 4.3 career average. 269 total assists with 2.8 per game. 337 total rebounds, 85 total steals, and 36 blocks, with a .396 career shooting percentage. Fink would end her senior season leading the GMAC conference in assists per game with 5.5, the next closest being 4.6. 

Sydney Wyngarden finishes her career for the Storm with the following statistics: 403 total points, 126 total rebounds, 74 total assists, and 57 total steals for her career.

Kayla Clark finishes her career for the Storm with the following statistics: 142 total points, 164 total rebounds, 27 total assists, 29 total blocks, and 15 total steals for her career.
