Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tennessee - As the race for the final spots in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Championship field gets tighter and tighter, the Lake Erie College softball program has one of its final chances to push its way into the field as they met up with the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans for a Friday afternoon doubleheader down in Nashville. The Storm played well, but the Trojans would pull away with a sweep. The games went as follows:
Trevecca Nazarene 3, Lake Erie 0
In Game 1, the Storm struggled to find a groove offensively as they could only muster 4 hits in the contest. However, the Storm would keep it close for much of the game. The Trojans took their lead in the fourth inning and would hold on for the win. Despite the loss, Grace Hammer had a good day in the pitcher's circle with 4 strikeouts
Trevecca Nazarene 8, Lake Erie 0
In Game 2, the offensive woes would continue as the Trojans jumped out to an early lead and would push their lead up to 8 by the end of the contest. In fact, the Storm would not record a hit in this contest. Carly Rowland got the start in this contest, and Bridget Mullholand would come in as relief.
With these losses, the Storm are likely out of the running for a final GMAC playoff spot. However, Lake Erie can still wrap up this 2022 campaign on a positive note as they will be looking to get back to their winning ways when they head over to Owensboro, Kentucky with a Saturday doubleheader with the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on April 30th. The first contest is slated for noon in Owensboro.
