Box Score 2 PAINESVILLE, Ohio - With the northeast Ohio weather finally yielding a nice spring day, the Lake Erie Softball program got a chance to get in their previously scheduled home doubleheader with Ursuline College. The Storm played well in both contests, and would even take game 1. However, a late Arrow surge in game 2 would spoil the Lake Erie sweep bid. The games went as follows:
Lake Erie 1, Ursuline 0
The first contest of the day would be a defensive battle as both teams would only muster a handful of scoring chances. Lake Erie would make one such opportunity count in the 5th inning as Chloe Allen singled to bring in Adrianna Sluga from third. That lone run would be all the advantage the Storm would need for a slim 1-0 victory. Grace Hammer would also have a commanding day on the mound as she logged 9 strikeouts.
Ursuline 7, Lake Erie 2
The second contest of the day would start off well for the Storm as CJ Garcia would single in the first inning to bring around Chloe Allen. After that, Lake Erie added another run in the 3rd inning as a Kiya Smith sacrifice fly would bring around Garcia to give the Storm a 2-0 advantage. Unfortunately, this is where the offensive production dried up for the Storm, and the Arrows rattled off 7 unanswered runs to take control of the game. Carly Rowland would get the start for the Storm, and Emma Spahr and Grace Hammer would come in relief.
Despite the disappointing finish, Lake Erie has another great opportunity to get back in the win column as the Walsh Cavaliers are slated to come up to Painesville for a doubleheader with the Storm on April 15th. The first contest will begin at 3 pm.
