HILLSDALE, Michigan - Despite the low early spring temperatures plaguing the early spring season across the Midwest, the Lake Erie softball program headed up to Hillsdale, Michigan to open up Great Midwest Athletic Conference action this season against the Chargers. Lake Erie competed well, but came up short in both contests on the day. The games went as follows:

Hillsdale 9, Lake Erie 1

In the first contest, the Storm would struggle initially from the plate. Their long scoring play would come from Arianna Tammaro as she would double to left center in the 3rd inning to bring Danny Soria all the way around from first. This was unable to spark a Storm comeback however, and Hillsdale would take game 1. Emma Spahr and Bridget Mullholand came in as relief pitchers after starter Carly Rowland came out of the game.

Hillsdale 8, Lake Erie 0

In game 2, the Storm's offensive struggles would continue as they simply could not keep pace with the Chargers in the runs column. Despite the loss, Grace Hammer would log a complete game and 5 strikeouts on the day. 

Statistically, another bright spot for the Storm has been Tymarie Hutchinson as she added to her impressive debut season for the Storm with 3 hits on 4 at bats between the two games. 

Lake Erie will have a bit of a break to recharge as they do not get back into action until Saturday, April 2nd when the Malone Pioneers come to town to face off with the Storm. The first pitch of that double header will begin at 2 pm.
