Box Score 2 INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Lake Erie College Storm Baseball team traveled to face the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds this weekend with a two-game series. The Storm split the series on the day and improved their record to 2-6 on the year.
Game 1 - March 13
The first game of Sunday's doubleheader went less than ideal for the Storm as walks and errors plagued them the entire contest. Lake Erie pitchers would give up a total of 21 walks while the team committed three errors. The offense would also struggle as the Storm would manage just five hits throughout seven innings.
WP - Xavier Rivas (3-0)
LP - Anthony Berrios Jr. (0-2)
Game 2 - March 13
The Storm would not let the results of the first game marinate long as they quickly jumped on the Greyhounds and took an early lead in the second game of the series.
Lake Erie would jump out to an early 2-0 lead with a two-run double by Robert Helt and would extend that lead to 5-0 by the end of four innings of play.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Greyhounds would scratch out their first run of the game and add one more in the next inning.
However, Lake Erie pitching would run into some trouble in the bottom half of the sixth inning and surrender the lead to UIndy by giving up five runs, making the score after six innings, 7-6.
Despite losing the lead for the first time that game, the Storm would immediately bounce back, drawing back-to-back walks and tie the game right back up on with a double by Nick Puzzonia. A sac fly by Mark Ross the next at-bat would give Lake Erie the lead for good.
The Storm would add one more run in the inning and the Greyhounds would notch one more in the bottom of the eighth, setting up Nick Taylor for his second save of the year
WP - Zach Saffell (1-1)
LP - Alec Burnett (0-1)
SV - Nick Taylor (2)
