Box Score (FINDLAY, Ohio) — In the second game of their doubleheader at Findlay Sunday, the Lake Erie College baseball team lost by a score of 15-9. This drops the Storm's record to 3-12 on the season, while the Oilers move to 9-10.
The story of this game is fairly straightforward: while the momentum shifted from team to team throughout the early part of the game, Findlay grabbed ahold of it in the later innings, and consequently, won the game.
For the Storm, starting pitcher Chase Tompkins went 7.1 innings, but gave up 11 runs on 12 hits. However, only six of those runs were earned, as the Storm succumbed to four errors in the game. On the offensive side, designated hitter Trace Peterson socked a grand slam in the fourth inning. That put the score at 7-1 Storm, but that lead would not last.
The Oilers had eight different players register at least one hit, and saw five doubles, a triple, and a home run in the game. Meanwhile, Findlay pitchers Gavin Bailey and Bailey McCord pitched the final 3.2 innings of scoreless ball while the offense mounted a comeback.
McCord ended up with the win in this one, his third in four games in the series. Tompkins was given the loss for Lake Erie.
After dropping three of four over the weekend at Findlay, the Storm now prepare for their first home series, this weekend against Kentucky Wesleyan.
