Box Score 2 (Painesville, Ohio) – The Lake Erie softball team fell to Wayne State this afternoon. The Storm fell in game one 5-2, followed by game two with a final score of 6-2.
Game One
The Storm was off to a good start as they scored the first two points of the game. Chloe Allen reached base in the first inning on an error by the third baseman, followed by a walk by Jordyn Hawkins. Kiya Smith singled which advanced Hawkins to second, along with Allen to third. A single by Jessie Carpenter scored Allen and Hawkins while advancing Smith. The Storm was hitless until the fourth inning when Parker Viele singled to center. Another hit was in the fifth by Payton Brownlee, which ended the momentum for the Storm.
Grace Hammer pitched the game for the Storm recording two strikeouts, giving up nine hits.
Game Two
The Storm took an early lead, once again, scoring two runs in the first inning. Chloe Allen was first to reach base on a single to short. Leah Buck came up huge for the Storm with a two-run home run. Unfortunately, that was the last of the momentum for the Storm. Wayne State came back in the second inning scoring three unanswered runs, followed by another run in the third, putting them up 4-2. The Warriors ended their run putting up another two-runs in the sixth.
Carly Rowland pitched game two for the Storm, recording two strikeouts, giving up 11 hits.

The Storm will be back in action this Sunday, March 21st as they host Hiram. The double-header is set to start at 1 p.m. followed by game two at 3 p.m.
