Box Score 2 (South Euclid, Ohio) – The Lake Erie softball team split the day with the Notre Dame Falcons. The Storm won the first game of the day 2-1, before falling to the Falcons 7-4.
Game One
The Lake Erie Storm struck first in the second inning. Dani Soria singled to right field, advancing to second on an error by Notre Dame's right fielder, then third. A single to right-center by Jesse Carpenter scored Soria.
The third and fourth inning were scoreless for both teams. The Storm gained their momentum back in the fifth inning as Jaime Carpenter started the inning with a single to center field. Leah Buck reached on a fielder's choice, as Carpenter was thrown out at second. Kiya Smith followed with a walk as Buck advanced to second. Jordyn Hawkins singled to left, advancing Smith to second and Buck to third. Cameron Malkamaki walked, Hawkins advanced to second and Smith to third as Buck scored on the RBI walk.
The Falcons scored their first run of the game in the sixth inning as Rehm homered to left field.
Grace Hammer pitched game one for the Storm, recording eight strikeouts, allowing five hits, resulting in one run for the Falcons.
Game Two
Chloe Allen started game two off with a double down the left line. Jaime Carpenter grounded out to shortstop advancing Allen to second. Kiya Smith got an RBI as she singled to left field scoring Allen from second to take the lead 1-0.
Notre Dame came back in the bottom of the first with four hits, resulting in two-runs.
The Storm was scoreless in the second inning, leaving three on base. The Falcons scored one run in the second inning leaving two on base. Both teams were scoreless in the third inning.
Jesse Carpenter started the fourth inning with a walk. Payton Brownlee grounded out to third with a sac bunt, moving Je. Carpenter to second. Allen grounded out to shortstop, advancing Je. Carpenter to third. J. Carpenter reached base on an error by Notre Dame's shortstop, getting an RBI as Je. Carpenter scored. The Falcons were scoreless in the fourth.
The Storm scored one-run in the fifth inning, by Parker Viele, unearned to tie the game 3-3. The Falcons had a strong fifth inning taking the lead 3-7, scoring four runs with four hits and one error on the Storm.
Lake Erie scored one run in the sixth inning by J. Carpenter on a double to left-center by Hawkins. The Falcons were scoreless in the sixth inning with two left on base. The Storm finished out the seventh inning with two hits, no runs.
Carly Rowland had 5.0 innings pitched with three-strikeouts, Bridget Mullholand finished the game with one inning pitched.

The Lake Erie Storm softball team will host Wayne State this Wednesday, March 14th in their home opener. This double-header will start with game one at 3 p.m. followed by game two at 5 p.m.
