Box Score 2 (Owensboro, Kentucky) – The Lake Erie softball team split the second day at the Blue Ridge Classic defeating Notre Dame 4-1 before falling to Southern Indiana 8-1.
Game One: Notre Dame
The Storm gained their first win of the 2021 campaign against Notre Dame in a 4-1 win.
Grace Hammer pitched a solid game, giving up only one run. Hammer pitched all seven innings ending with an impressive 13 strikeouts after facing 29 hitters. Combined with yesterday's game versus Ferris State, Hammer has recorded 23 strikeouts.
The Storm gained momentum at the plate today, as they recorded eight hits, scoring all four runs in the sixth inning.
Senior Leah Buck led the team with three hits followed by Chloe Allen with two. Kiya Smith, Jordyn Hawkins, and Dani Soria added a hit-a-piece.
Game Two: Southern Indiana
The Storm had a rough first inning as Southern Indiana put up four runs compared to Lake Erie's one.
Carly Rowland pitched most of the game for the Storm facing 30 hitters, striking out six, giving up nine runs. Bridget Mullholand faced seven hitters, striking out one.
Offensively Chloe Allen led the Storm with 3 hits, followed by Morgan Smith with two. Jaime Carpenter and Leah Buck both added a hit each for the Storm.
After scoring one run in the first inning, the Storm was held scoreless the rest of the game, leaving seven players on base throughout the game.
Southern Indiana continued to bring in the runs in the fourth inning adding three more. The Eagles scored their last point in the seventh inning, winning 8-1.

The Storm is set to end their opening weekend tomorrow when they take on Ferris State at 11 a.m. followed by Indianapolis at 3 p.m.
